Text message terms
MarkMe is a personal safety check-in app. These terms cover the text messages (SMS) MarkMe sends to safety contacts.
Who gets texts
We text people a MarkMe user adds as a safety contact, and only after that person replies YES to our one-time invite. If someone does not reply, or replies STOP, we do not text them alerts.
How you opt in
When a MarkMe user adds you as a safety contact with your mobile number, we send you one text asking whether you agree. It reads:
MarkMe: [Name] added you as a safety contact. If they miss a check-in, we'll text you. Reply YES to agree, STOP to opt out. Msg&data rates may apply.
Replying YES opts you in. [Name] is the name of the person who added you. We send the invite once; the person who added you can ask us to resend it no more than once a day.
What we send
- An alert when the person who added you misses a check-in.
- An alert when they send an SOS.
- A follow-up when they mark themselves safe after an alert.
We never send marketing or promotional texts.
How often
Only when an alert happens, so the number of messages varies. It is typically a few messages a month at most.
Opting out
- Reply STOP at any time to stop all texts from MarkMe.
- Reply START to opt back in.
- Reply HELP for help.
Cost
Message and data rates may apply.
Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
